Floor Covering Installer
2) Position Overview
We are seeking a qualified Floor Covering Installer to join our team in Scarborough, Ontario. This is a full-time, permanent position requiring on-site work at active renovation and installation project sites throughout Ontario. We offer a competitive hourly wage ranging from CAD $36.00 to CAD $38.00, depending on experience and qualifications. The position requires 30 hours of work per week and is available to start as soon as possible. We currently have one (1) vacancy available.
3) Qualifications and Requirements
The position requires the ability to communicate effectively in English, completion of secondary school with post-secondary education considered an asset, and the ability to work on-site at our business location and client project sites throughout Ontario, as remote work is not available. The candidate must have at least one (1) year and less than two (2) years of relevant work experience in floor covering installation, be legally authorized to work in Canada, and demonstrate the ability to safely lift and carry flooring materials, tools, and equipment weighing up to fifty (50) lbs on a regular basis. The position also requires practical experience using industry tools and equipment for measuring, cutting, leveling, and installing hardwood, laminate, vinyl, and tile flooring materials.
4) Job Duties and Responsibilities
The successful candidate will perform a range of flooring installation tasks as part of our installation team. The work includes:
- Inspect, measure and mark surfaces to be covered
- Read blueprints, drawings and specifications to determine work requirements
- Measure, cut and fasten underlay and underpadding
- Prepare flooring plans and scheduling
- Measure, cut and install carpeting on floors
- Measure, cut and install resilient floor coverings
- Prepare and install hardwood floors
- Inspect and repair damaged floor coverings
- Prepare floors for installations
- Remove existing floor coverings and contaminants
- Install carpeting on walls or other surfaces
- Perform direct glue-down carpet installations
- Perform double-bond carpet installations
- Install outdoor carpets
- Install resilient stair components (special effects for the visually impaired)
